In celebration of its 50th founding anniversary, Banda Kawayan Pilipinas will be staging a major concert at the Rizal Park Open Air Auditorium on Sunday, December 10th. Gates open at 5pm, with free admission to the public.

Dubbed “Fifty Years and Beyond”, this milestone event is organized in cooperation with the National Parks Development Committee (NPDC) and will feature multi-faceted performances from current and alumni members of the band from various generations, tracing its roots as a high school bamboo marching band in 1973 into a non-stock, non-profit cultural organization that has made its unique mark promoting the various facets of Philippine culture and tourism through its varied repertoire, lively choreography and unique handcrafted instruments fashioned out of bamboo and other indigenous organic materials, proving time and again that music knows no boundaries.

The show will consist of multiple acts highlighting the bamboo band’s evolution from a high school cultural group to a world-class ensemble that has conquered the global stage and continues to espouse bamboo music excellence. Special guests include the Maharlika Dance Artists and Bagong Himig Serenata, both from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP).
